- Hypertension (High Blood Pressure):
- As monotherapy: 50–100 mg daily, in one or two divided doses. Adjust after 2 weeks based on response.
- Edema:
- Adults: Start with 100 mg daily. Adjust based on response, up to a maximum of 400 mg per day.
- Hepatic Cirrhosis with Ascites and Edema:
- The dose depends on the urinary Na/K ratio:
- Na/K > 1: Start with 100 mg daily.
- Na/K < 1: Start with 200–400 mg daily.

- Congestive Heart Failure:
- Adults: 25 mg daily, up to 50 mg if needed. If not tolerated, reduce to 25 mg every other day.
